Siege Desert Foggy Night

I've had this map done for some time now, I've just been to lazy and cought up in school to release it. The map features the df3 pyramid that is in the map "eternal equanox".

The pyramid isn't exactly the same, but you can still see a strong resemblance in the layout.

The only downside to this map is the low fps. With my diamond viper 32mb graphics card, i average about 5fps when looking AT the pyramid.

enjoy!

I don't think that's a new hieghtfield, I'm pretty sure that's the terrain from Sun Dried. I should know... I play that darned map every day =)

heightfields themselves don't make a map CS. It's the ter file that will. Likewise, I think you could have a new terrain texture script and still stay CS (not sure about that).

Well I played it and this map is a hell of alot of fun! And not to spam the post but I do think it would be
CS cause the heightfeild is named the same as the map. But again dont take my word for it I never made a map with just a heightfeild or ter, texture stuff. Great map!!!

Tsetse, you can have new textures without forcing a clientside download. Remember when I was showing you my map and the terrain was like rainbow colored or whatnot? It just doesn't look right, that's all. ;)

I assure you the map is server side. The heightfield is Sun Dried, i just renamed. The only file that makes a map client side would be the .ter file which isn't present. I've played it with my friends and it still worked. The pyramid is strictly a bunch of combined walls that took forever to get right, so it isn't that, that would make it cs.

Hmm, slow out there.

Maybe if i released the map during late august it would of attracted more attention because of the ss pyramid... oh well

Cool map....I think it's slow cause
alot of people are scared to come here. Every map that comes out some wounder if it's another RavenBro map.
He scares me so.

OMG THIS IS AWSOME. HOWD HE DO IT!!!! Holy crap! That pyramid is AWSOME! The whole base is amazing, and SERVER SIDE, HOLY CRAPOLA! Its amazing what enough time can produce. I and everything is placed to make it look like a sweet WC base, but its not its a SERVER SIDE INTERIOR!! Also the map plays well, the only thing so very shamefull and wrong with this map is the defience of the whole game its self that every one is so very obsessed with is Frame Rate NOOOOOOO! :( its just wrong how can they do a thing like this to us map makers fps is completly ruined by the pyramid, and that is the only reason its an A- if no lag then its a A+ cause of incredibly wonderfully designed pyramid.

The map definately has some lag issues. but i have no real problem with them as they don't really hinder the gameplay on this map too much. the thing i dinged ya for is the overall base layout. let's look at it in pros and cons:
PRO: big layout, some dead ends, definately looks like an actual pyaramid with the little triange entrance, and the gens are located at opposite ends of the "base".
CONS: (some are gonna disagree with me here...) i felt that the gens were too close to each other and could easily be destroyed by a lone scout armor (who could probably capture the switch too) within seconds, no defenses inside the "base", i also felt that the switch is way too close to the gens, last, the "maze" isn't a very difficult one to decypher (felt it's a tad too simplistic).
I'm not bashing the map or anything, it is definately worth the download to play around with, but there are some things that I simply thought i'd voice out to you. (heck, this one got me playing Siege again after not playing the game type for around 4 months!) and to be completely fair, i'm not going to lower the grade at all because of the things i voiced above, as they are simply (again...) observations that i think could have been worked on (not massive bad things about the map that make it completely unplayable like some maps [*cough* like some that won't load at all... *cough*])

Alundra, have you ever not given a map an A+? This map is cool, concept of base is well thought out. But the layout kinda suffers. This is so easily defendable its insane. Two heavies can just sit in doorways mortar spamming. Another 30 minute map.
