Siege Desert Clear Client Side Custom Shapes

After a long time of stalling and working I finnally decide to release another map. Of course this is a siege map too. But don't worry a arena Mirage, and hell maybe a SLDM Mirage will come out soon.

As far as base layout goes, there is 2 diferent bases for the defenders. One is the Wall base and the other is the Main Base. The wall base two platues with a wall/bridge type to connect two towers together. In the towers are inventory stations for the attackers and defenders. Once the wall gens are destroyed then the inventorys for the attackers become availible. As for the main base, there are 4 generators, 1 main hall, 1 reserve, and 2 dual which are placed right next to each other. Though the base may seem confusing at first it is actully pretty simple.

The objectives for the attackers is to destroy the Wall gens. These will give spawns for the attackers in the two towers, and inventory acsess. There are many turrets and sensors across the wall making it almsot impossible for the attackers to skip it. Once the towers are down a very easy ski slope from the platue goes straight to the main base for fast paced inside action. Also the defenders only spawn in the huge lower basment making so that they cannot load defense on the one entrance to the base.

Ok I'll stop talking now and let you decide the greatness of siege. Please give your hounest opinion, and if you don't like this one then I hope you like my Arena map.

Plus very special thanks to Fishie for making the pond and hosting siege for a long time. Also to Verna for sugestions. Mucho Mucho thanks to Dr. Pimento, and Makavelli for scripting, and v5planet for compiling my base.

Now I open the curtains for Mirage, the siege version. Stay tuned for Arena.

Wow. Nice bridge and AWESOME main base interior design. Seriously, this is impressive. A couple very small things I could say are that the main room with the Generator and the switch looks AWFULLY familiar =) Looks quite a lot like the Ninevah main room, but that's not a big deal. One other thing is that if someone on defense repairs the Wall Generator while someone behine the blue FF is getting loaded up, that presents a problem. Those are the only 2 small things I notices. Nice layout and design, looks to be some good gameplay, only possibly the main base could use more than one entrance, but we'll see how one works. Thanks, and keep these coming!

Yeah the one entrance thing posed a problem, but I was able to avoid that with, just having the defenders respawn inside the basement level, so it may seem like a spamm point, but keep in mind that people have to go up all the elevators to reach that top area. Though I do see your point, it could get crammed.

Well done. Nice overall environment and "flow" to this. I am a big fan of siege, and I think this will be a hit. Only criticism I could make, in terms of gameplay, is the one apparently entrance into the main base. However, that choke point alone will cause rather fun gameplay, as the offense would be spawning right outside and the defense is clearly just holding on for dear life on this. It appears "difficult" at first glimpe with all the gens, and thus capacity to repair, but I suspect that in real play with experience siegers, this will be even faster that Ultima Thule. Kudos. A lot of work and thought went into this one.

Huh. I thought I would get more outside comments, so far I've only got people I've told to go rate my map. Anyone else?

Nice map overall. I love the sky, gives it a very nice feel. Great custom objects too, nicely done! One thing I noticed however, was that the vehicles disappeared on me when the teams switched sides. Was that supposed to happen? Or was it just a bug on my machine or something? Oh, and one more thing(just nitpicking here) the shadows arent lined up with the sun in the sky :P.

This map is a good map. The wall was setup quite nicely, as was the terrain. The final base really needs a few more entrances, but that's not a big problem. Great work.

Very original map. One little tick on my shoulder though is how much of it is spent indoors. Other than that, I think it's a great map. The bridge also seems to be a bit of a reference to Trident's Courtyard wall which isn't bad.

Congrats on MotW! I thought it was a pretty good map (though I don't know much about siege). From what I hear from siege players, I can see alot of things they mention as good for siege maps. And nice job on the base! :)

What a coincidence. Once Mirage becomes the MoTW, it then drops from #1 user ranked map.

Red Shifter: I in no way vote based on biases or spite. I have standards for what makes a good/fun map. I stick to those. Sometimes I may grade a little higher. To me this is an A (very good) map. It didn't have any kinks, it is winable. Neither side can slack off and win. Movement is fine (except for those huge stairs!). I held off grading this map till I had a chance to play it. :)

Wow, MOTW pretty good. But you people ought to realize this map is actully kinda bad, I mean I'm surprised it actully stayed on the top 10 without getting atleast an A. But all in all much thanks to all who supported this map. Hell now It think I'll get back into mapping.

Don't put grades on maps when you have a map in the top ten. That's my philosophy. I might comment, but if a map is up there, or going to be up there... unless i got an A+ to give, i just comment without a grade. It is too easy to hurt feelings and confuse things, even if you innocently want to give an honest grade. Just a thought. =)

I thought i had alreaady commented on this, but guess not. I give it an A, cause that base rocks. Its hard to get an A+ from me. That base is a bit to easy to defend though. But its also a campers dream. I like how you made such a good base from the desert .wad, very nice.
