Bounty Capture and Hold Capture the Flag Other Clear Bots Client Side Custom Textures Night

The Eagle has landed!!!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play Tribes on our very own Moon? Well, now is your chance. This mission takes place in the Sea of Tranquility with craters, moon gravity and all. Each team begins the match with a base and one lunar defense tower under their control. A center lunar defense tower has been left un-captured at the start of the match. Even though it is possible to jet from one side of the map to the other, using vehicles is still the smarter way to go. This map supports CTF, CnH and Bounty mission types with full bot support. I hope you will enjoy this map as much as I do. I may have gone a little field crazy trying new ideas that have led me no where.

This map is dedicated to all the Americans who have fought for our Freedom and who have kept the dream alive. This is my tribute to America and the last map I’ll make.

EEPROM signing off. See you all again on the dark side of the moon.

Excellent! I can't wait to play it. I had an idea just like this, with 1/6 gravity and all. I hope you make a sequel with custom bases.

by eforhan on September 27, 2001 · Rating:

Looks great!
Is the gravity really 1/6th of the normal t2 grav.? Sorry to hear this is your last map... I hope you change your mind!

Wow, great job EEPROM.
Sometimes I think people forget I made a lunar map a loooong time ago called Stardust, but this map plays completely differently, so it's not like you ripped me off or anything.
You did a superb job with all the FF textures (I especially like the translucent computer monitors in the basement of the base), and I'm wondering why you didn't do the same for the terrain textures? It looks like you used snow textures and ash or something. You would've gotten a much nicer result by taking desert textures, greyscaling them, and then turning up the brightness a bit. But oh well, that matters little.
The terrain is spectacular, you really did a great job with all the craters. I liked the three objectives as well - the way you have to blow up the gens before you can swipe them from the other team.
Also, just how did you let vehicles fly through that FF? I thought they were supposed to blow up on contact?
Anyway, great job, and I'm sorry to see this is your last map. I'm hoping you'll change your mind on that.

nice environmentals, nice custom textures. You obviously put a lot of time creating a excellent atomsphere, and it shows. Best of your maps yet :)

Definitely A+ work.
Extremely balanced and fun, great with a lot of people. It's made it into my map rotation.
Sorry to hear it's your last, but what an exit, eh?

ok, finally tested it on my single player mode just a bit ago... GREAT MAP!!!!! definately deserves the A+. but one quick thing i noticed: in front of the Blood Eagle base (you know, facing the center entrance), if you walk over to the right side entrance, you'll fall through the map just a bit (about 20 meters or so...). it's not right next to the entrance, it's one of the whiter (or lighter) squares nearby it. just thought i'd let you know. it doesn't seem to effect the game any though, and seems to be a good place to hide!

WOW this map is sweet, sure makes me rethink my future maps and how much more time i will spend on them to try to make them as good as this one! Great work i loved it, only one small complaint is that the sun could have been worked on a little more, its a little egg shaped and doesnt look that great but that doesnt effect gameplay, bottomline,
NICE MAP!!!

I Hope this one gets some server time...wishful thinking with the custom terrain. I am curious how you mapped the moon topo? Fantastic!

by Zengei on October 1, 2001 · Rating:

Awesome map! The only problem I could find is that heavies could "hover" over the enemy base and spam mortors but other than that.
I am particular intrested in how you got the vehicles to go through the FFs.

by Phalanx on October 31, 2001 · Rating:

I downloaded the map played and its GREAT.
There`s just a tiny little problem actualy a big problem....IT RUNS BAD AS ASS ON MY COMPUTER.you made the map too great :).you rule EEPROM

by Nabinger on October 12, 2001 · Rating:

I have seen some other people discuss the ability to 'float' above the enemy base because of the gravity, and I believe that this does effect the gameplay on a downside. Besides that though, everything is great!

With the work put into this, and how great it turned out, it deserves nothing but a huge A+. I absolutely love all of the custom stuff. Superior job, and this is by far one of the most impressive maps made for Tribes 2.

by powdahound on November 13, 2001 · Rating:

I kinda enjoyed checking out all the stuff he did to go beyond the limits of the map editor, good job there. Some little things suggest that it wasn't gone over a final time, like the flag stand not even being centered! Kinda cool to play around on offline but I predict online play would suffer. I agree with Star's grades. :) Cool map.

by PisnNapalm on November 14, 2001 · Rating:

The map is great, except for a huge hole... literally.. infront of the right side StarWolf entrance there is a huge hole that you can fall through. You basically wind up falling forever..

Shoot the custom textures with a chain gun! TINK! Unhandled exception.
LalalalaLock up. Other than that map plays like a dream!

I thank you so much Star for your review and choice for Map of the Week. However, I want to make one point clear. This is an uncompleted map due to the last patch for Tribes2.

Ever since the last patch came out I have not been able to play nor build maps for Tribes2 or complete this one. Also, now that I have upgraded to XP Tribes2 won't even get past the update screen or launch a lan game. This is why I no longer map for Tribes2. I am deeply hurt that Dynamix didn't think of us poor VooDoo slobs when they built Tribes2. I have struggled over the past year trying to get and keep my Tribes2 working on my system. I don't think it needs to be that hard just to play a game out of the box. Tribes2 is the only game I have ever had problems working on my system with my cheese VooDoo3 card. As much as I love Tribes and the times I could play Tribes2 I can no longer put up with the errors and crashes this game creates for me. I have tried everything to stop this maddness but nothing seams to work for me.

Therefore, if I were to review this map I would have given it an F for it's sloppy workmanship. The textured force filed effects are intresting, saves a lot of FPS too, an idea that should have been considered in it's creation to begin with. But it takes more then fancy texturing to be a great mapper and to make a great map. Oh yeah, sorry for the crash effect created when you shoot at the fields. Would have fixed that too if I could. The terrain was the easiest part to make in this map, Took me a whole hour, well, 54 minutes to be exact. And if my video drives for Tribes2 worked as they should I would have seen those holes instead of the rainbow texturing and dark shadows I normaly get that drive me crazy. Also, did not have a chance to play test this map either after the last patch release and did not want to bother re-installing the game brining it back to it's basic form cause it took me weeks to get that up and running too.

Anyway, I want to give my thanks to the Tribes community for all your support and kind words. I wish I could finish this map and the last two maps I was working on (Beach Head and Undead) and I wish I could still play too.

Cry, cry, cry, cry

Maybe santa will fix it,,,,,,, LOL.

Please reconsider your decision. If you still want to leave, I'm going back to Winamp skinning for a while before I make another map. :( Please don't go EEPROM. Pop quiz! Does anyone know what EEPROM stands for?

I understand your windows problems. My brother offered to upgrade my version of windows to 2000 pro and I approved (awhile ago). However, aside from the fact that my soundcard did not work anymore with the new version, few of my games worked after the installation. Therefore, I uninstalled and stayed with 98se. I understand that you most likely use your computer for more than games and I would imagine the performance of those programs is improved with the new version. However, since my computer is built for gaming, I will stay with 98se until a stable os is released. I wish you luck with your future endeavors.

EEPROM, don't go PLEASE!!!! The Era of T2 Map-Making might end because of newbie map-makers (no offense), yet it's still an awesome map!!

by DarkStorm on January 4, 2002 · Rating:

hey star, the guy who graded this, this map deserves 100\%, if you ask me it's a much better map than claasic rollercoaster (which is cool, but theres, nothing amazing about it)

by -ChAo$- on January 10, 2002 · Rating:

If there is one thing I can respect above all else in mapping, it is originality... I would have given this map a 90, but star you are entitled to your opinion... The atmosphere in this map was simply increadible, as were the custom FFs (I was told by mod makers that it COULD not be done). Great job EEPROM!

Only reason I did not give this an A+ was because of the errors mentioned already.

There is a file in the .vl2 that does not belong....delet it and you will be able to shoot the textures and not have it lock up or get a UE.

I have fallen into my darker side.

by nuclearx on July 9, 2003 · Rating:

I downloaded it and when i went to go to play it after i load it and get in game all it does is lag, when i move its more like a slideshow and my ping goes up to 3500+ why is it so lagged up? If you can tell me how to fix this, then i'll give it a A because it looks cool but i can't play it smoothly yet

Horendous This is the work of a new programer and not the great EEPROM I fell through the cracks in the ground three times in one game and the bots are incompetent on highest int they cant find their way into the bases short of you pushing them around w/ cuncusion granades and the wont even defend or go for flags of corse this could be because they are eternaly falling and are to stupid to comit suicide the sky is great but the whole rest of the map needs work try using the bot code from wasteland warloardsbecause they are simply marvelous second only to the bots of LAGG_ALLOT
