Capture the Flag Lush Storming

Here's the map to honor the passing of a great company... This map shows off everything (without scripting in, this was meant to be solely using the editor. Besides, I can't script), or nearly so that Dynamix's editor can do. The map takes place on a ruined and chaotic planet at the site of a destroyed and newly rebuilt city (is this getting too complicated?) Anyway, it has everything that you would expect: Sewers, a power district where you can kill the power to any district you want, and plenty of nice turrets and goodies :). However, on a more serious note, the map is 225k, so it takes ages to load (esp during lighting, where it appears to freeze occasionally), but when T2 finishes loading it, FPS remain great (not counting the first couple minutes, where it is still loading). There are many new obstacles awaiting you. Are you ready?

*whistles* that's a lot of stuff.... haven't played it yet, but i pray it doesn't do what Urban Warfare did to my FPS... *sounds of big explosions* overall, the idea from UW was a good one, but was too crowded for most people, what you did is basically the same thing but you spread the area out so it would be a bit larger a city and so that our FPS's won't take a fatal nosedive...

When I play it, it gets to the lighting part and then locks up. The music repeats a little part of itself over and over! So, then I have to restart. I dont have a bad computer, either; its a P3 866 with a GeForce2 MX and 128 megs of RAM. Any suggestions?

Well, I must assume the map needs a little debugging due to all the items and buildings, but I have playtested it repeatedly and am satisfied thusfar... (the big one may turn out to be the invincible ff turrets which are just RTs covered by blue non-passable FFs, but they seem to work so far). Well, it's a really good map and took extremely long to make with positioning everything just right (only things copied and pasted were really the inferno base and the waterblock; the rest was by hand the whole way). I just hope someone takes it up...

Very cool.BTW,how do you get the lightning and stuff to change colors? I edit the color values and things but nothing happens =\

Well, it does like to lock for a second or two after lighting, but it shouldn't be that big a problem... My advice is to just w8 and see. And the lightning color itself is still at it's default, I just changed the fade value (there are 4 values, I think it's Red, Blue, Green, and Intensity). The lightning will look the same as it always did until you restart tribes though, or if you cut and paste it (I think...). L8r.

ok, i downloaded this map a long while ago (back when it was first released) and should have asked this earlier: as mentioned below, my cpu locks up at the "Lighting Stage" part of the loading, and from there doesn't move until i restart my computer. it happens every time i try to run it, and i still haven't been able to play this neat looking map because of it! i don't know what's wrong with it, if it may be something bad inside my cpu, or if only "lucky" people get to play this one...

I knew this would happen... What happens is not a lock up, but rather one building takes a realllllly long time to light (about 80 seconds or so), and since I cannot tell the names during lighting I cannot weed out the one that causes it.... Anyway, just be very patient during lighting (grab a soda or something..) and wait it out.

I bet this took you forever to make. :-) I like the sewers. Its almost to big to play. The thunder gets really anoying after a while. Other than that its alright. It would be fun if it was much smaller and not quite so grey or dark. Good job. You werent kidding about taking a LONG time to load. lol :-D
