Hellfire is a map set in a hostile environment. The map centers around a large volcano and meteor showers are common. The two bases are on opposite bases of the volcano. The volcano is wide enough so that a light with an energy pack is required to disc-jump to get across. Lights can also jump from their “wall” (mentioned later) in which case they will barely make it across. The bases are 600m apart and the volcano is 400m across on average.

The bases are of interesting construction. They have many entrances that give them a “hive” type of feel. The bases come with ten inventory stations with two generators to power them. The bases come with no sensors of any kind. There is a “sniper wall” in front of each of the bases to prevent the “cross map sniping” that is common in Firestorm. The flags are open and on platforms elevated in front of the base.

The volcano plays a critical role in determining the gameplay of the map. It takes up a massive chunk of the map and care must be taken not to plunge into its grip. It features a spectacular lava fountain that I believe is dubbed “particle emitter”. This effect does not harm fps to any noticeable degree. To balance the gameplay with the volcano, several ski routes were carved around it. These can be fast or slow depending on which one you take. Faster ones get you in and out. These are preferable for cappers. Slower routes are slightly larger semicircles around the volcano. While they are slow, they also provide more cover from snipers. There is also a series of platforms built into interior walls of the volcano that also provide passage for the sure-footed.

Farmers will initially find that their turrets are having a hard time locating targets. This is when I first noticed the lack of sensor coverage. One deployable sensor has enough range to cover your base area however I highly recommend your team deploys more to help with seek and destroy operations. Cappers can get in and out very quickly on this map due to the open flag so a dedicated farmer and chasers are a must for serious competition.

I had a lot of fun playing on this map because of the ski routes and fast gameplay. Fans of Firestorm, as Tasluk mentioned, will love this map. People who like Firestorm but could live without the constant snipe kills should take a closer look at this map; they will not regret it.
