You start out surrounded by a largeish base, in the truest of Bioderm style. It looks like some huge, giant factory for some arcane production, and really fits the mood of the map. There are inventory stations liberally scattered around, and a few pillars/posts around the perimeter. The flag is stood in a large, standing pillar, with four "petals", making it seem like some mechanized, oversized flower.
The twist this map presents is the fact that your team has no vehicle station.. but both teams have one, and only one, MPB. Not only is choosing where to deploy this precious piece of machinery important, (it'll give you a forward turret, plus a full inventory at the front lines) but once it's out.. the map almost splits into two parts.
On the one hand, you have the always requisite flag defense.. you've got to be good at it, too, since the flag is in the air.. no mortaring the feet of a capper like in the 'Quag.
But then, so important it almost rivals flag-D, comes defending the MPB. Giving each team just one was absolutely brilliant.. it creates an "alternate" objective, such as the capturable point does in many maps.. but unlike any other map, this "objective" is absolutely and in all ways critical. In other maps, you could just take the long way around the center if you didn't want to recapture it. In this map, if you neglect your MPB, you will lose, no doubt about it. At the same time, your team should always be launching attacks on the enemy's MPB, trying to knock it out. If you could do that, your victory would almost be assured.
Playability is very, very high, because of the design of the map. This lends itself to so many permutations of the basic "defend and attack" strategies that it's simply mind-boggling. Defense.. do you defend your base, the flag, or the MPB? Do you take out a heavy, and risk missing your first shot, and being left in the dust by a light capper? Or do you pull light armor, and pray that the enemy doesn't attack? Or do you farm every available area? These are just some of the many, many questions you will face when playing the map with 5 or more people to a team. In addition, the dynamics of the map are constantly changing, forcing you to adapt as quickly as possible to new enemy tactics.
Attention to detail is as close to perfect as I saw no difference. Absolutely nothing jumped at me and screamed: "I'm out of place!" I was able to immerse myself completely in the experience of this map.
Balance is fair, all around. Not only do both teams have the same layout and surrounding terrain, but the offensive and defensive sides are both equal in difficulty, and both easily within striking range of eachother.
Item Placement I found nothing lacking. The inventories are just a bit out of the way, but once you know where they are, there is no problem in finding them again. In addition (and thank you for this!), they aren't far removed from the battlefield, so you can quickly re-arm and be back at it.
Mechanics on this map are nothing short of incredible. With all the other pieces falling into place so cleanly, it's hard to pinpoint places that need improvement! The innovation in base design/layout, and the MPB idea all mesh perfectly.
This map is an awesome experience that I am telling you not to miss, no matter what. Wherever you play it, just do it.. this will be well worth your while.
