666-Tribute to T2maps by Deathscythe~40 on December 21, 2001

Capture the Flag Volcanic Foggy Night

In the true nature of tributes, I have actually made this map server side for all you lazy 56kers out there =P...

This map has taken me many hours and much agony to get the VERY complex power system to work correctly. Keep that in mind while playing this map. It is intended for larger crowds, yet the solo scout can still take this base out with the right equipment. Now to the base description...

Each team spawns at the base of a large ground base on the far stretches of the map. Inventory is limited to 4 stations here in each of the 4 cubby holes in the tower. There is a transfer tube that can take one up to the main airbase. up here is where the complex power system is in place...there is only ONE entrance (at first) to get into the base...located in the back of the main base's platform. From there, there are NO inventory stations in the main airbase; only those located about 200m away in the inventory tower. protection of this tower is crucial to keeping a supply of inventory to your defending juggernauts. Keeping a 'hidden' weapon supply station is definatly a must in the main airbase.

The power system is constructed so that certain gens must be destroyed to gain access to the flag and certain areas of the airbase....it consists of this:

1)Destroy the FF solarpanels on the ground base to gain access to the transport tube...there are 4 ELF turrets gaurding it, so those cowboys better stay back a bit. Snipers are very handy in taking these out...also, so is lighting for it has a 85\% chance of hitting somthing, so you will be repairing them no matter what.

2) accend to the airbase thru the transport tube and make you way into the base...meanwhile have a scout satchel the "Blue" gen in the very bottom open room of the base. this gen is easy to get to and will be the hardest to defend, because when it is up you have to go OUTSIDE to get to it.

2) with the blue gen destroyed, ALL blue FF's are now down. Make your way to the Green Gen which is very close to the Blue gen. this obviously will shut down ALL the Teampass FF's. This in turn gives you access to the flag.

3) the next two gens; Yellow and Red are not essential to capping but incentives include: the vehicle pads are controlled by the Yellow gen..as are the yellow FF's gaurding the final gen, the Red gen. The red gen powers the entire base.

Note: there are indicator "lights" throughout the whole base letting that team know what gens are up and which ones are down. Enjoy!

Muhahahahaha!!! It goes to show you that on some servers there IS indeed teamwork alive and well! I've actually done a complete shutout after i defended my gens for the flag and then grabbed the enemy flag and capped around 4 times! Big thanks to the |TE| guys as it was YOU that helped me out there! one last thing: (as a 'gift' to the |TE| guys) SYRINX RULES! :p

Didnt have enuff space to mention that there are NO sensors. I figure no one uses the command circuit anyway, so i didnt add them. besides, in this map they are kinda useless. No ground vehicles (duh) and the vehicles limitations have been raised to Shrikes: 8, Bombers: 4, Transports: 4....also, this has skipped BETA testing as usual, there may be some errors tho i doubt many, i spent ALOT of time on this. JUST FOR YOU! ^_^

OMG this map seems really hard, but really neto looking, 5 caps to win, hmm well I will d/l it but it seems like a really hard map to win, and is more like a siege, but whatever new ideas are always welcome wether good or bad maps.

I like it that it's a little harder
than normal...keeps the eyes open
and your ass puckered...that sounded wrong but anyway. Good work! I did not find anything wrong after about 1 hour of playing.

thanx! i think im going to be using the "no resistance" script in the rest of my maps from now on, i really like the fact that you dont slow down in the FF's with it...quite handy...anyway, keep the comments flowing!

Why would you name your map 666, especially when it's a tribute? I am assuming you mean the 666 as the number of the Beast, also another map. I think these are rather dumb. Think of a better name.

um...ouch...well, if you actually downloaded the map you would notice that in the map intro it says "A tribute to Tribes2maps.com's reach of 666 members". As for my vocabulary, ya know, I'm not even going to justify that with a response. If you dont have anything constructive to say, shut up.

Jeez, when you said this map was hard, i had a rough idea on how hard... but i never thought that it could be THIS HARD! Gens in the airbase, gens on the ground... Nice to see a REAL challenge as most maps lately have been real pushovers :) . I like the subtle touch with the rain too, changing the color to red so it looks like blood :D hehe... this map is a capper's worst nightmare (just so long as you don't put AA turrets up near the flag... ouch...) simply because of the sheer complexity of the power grid. i spent well over 15 mins trying to find which gen(s) to take out next, traversing from airbase to ground, and studing the CC REALLY hard to try and find the next gen... and i still never touched the enemy flag! (it's a sad day for me when i can't at least GRAB the enemy flag... my tribe would be so ashamed... maybe...). Great map as a finish, you are definitely becoming one of the more "YAY! A new map by Deathscythe~40!" type of mappers in a field of newbie mappers.. (no offense to the newbie mappers, i'm one too!)

Unfortunatly, not many ppl share the same opinion about my maps...i myself enjoy maps that involve more objectives/thinking in order to grab the flag...i like maps that are a challenge and make me go "Damn! I WILL get it this time!!" stuff like Dessicator, and maps that make you take out siege-like objectives to reach the flag...then you have to fight your way out to even cap it! On a side note, im going to get rid of those two RT's atop the airbase...i didnt realize how close they were to the flag...Glad you liked it! ^_^

Ok..since everyone says its TOO difficult i updated it today which should be up by the end of the day...updates include: rearranging of some FF's to allow access to the "green Gen" which powers the ff's around the flag without having to destroy the Blue gen; Waypoint markers for all the gens so it is easier to find them; removal of the two RT's atop the airbase for all those lights...hope this helps ^_^

Contrary to popular belief, 666 is NOT a satanic reference. Before you go telling people to get a new vocabulary, you should try examining your own. Illiterate kids.

Binablik was right. The number six hundred threescore and six was NOT the number of Satan. It was the mark of the Beast, a hellspawned monster sent by Satan to rule Earth in the Book of Revelations.

This level is a peice of crap. The rain makes it laggy it is very difficult to get to the enemy base and imposible to capture the flag.
