Capture the Flag Badlands Storming Bots Client Side Custom Textures

This map is loosely based upon trench warfare in World War One, it has 2 lines of trenches, separated by about 500k of no mans land. There is a destroyed Starwolf base which adds an interesting twist (bug actually ;) ) to play...
There are a lot of turrets defending each teams trenches. Iventory stations are available by each teams flag stand and there is a MPB at the other end on each teams trench.

Have a look in the vl2 (open it in win zip) for an extended description.

I was actually thinking of making a World War map myself. Looks like ya beat me to it ;) Oh well, your outcome probably would have left mine in the dust. Good work!

Nice map, but I don't think WWI or WWII were in the desert =)
I'm gonna make a WW map myself sooner or later, (it may be with custom made trenches), and the overal mood of the World Wars...

I think I can do that the best because I live in a land where the trenchwar was the most spectacular
( no pun intended)

Keep mapping m8 =)

1) Both world wars were fought in the desert :P

2) Where did you get the idea from that this map has anything to do with a desert?!?!

its raining ffs! and i'd like to see you build trences out of sand...

the terrain in my map is much more like belguim was - muddy, wet and lots of hills.

I think if your gonna make a map based around one of the wars, your going to need to do a little more research, rather than just live near where one was.

Gaz, you already know what I thought--even back when you were still building it! :) Great job!

About desert: Actually, I thought this was more like what the trench warfare may have looked like: Barren. The muddy water only makes me believe this more so. :)

Ever once in a while somebody comes up with a brilliant new idea. This here's one. Excellent idea, excellent execution, excellent map! Better'n cornbread n' buttermilk. Highly recommended.

Hmm, you got lucky that the first beta patch came out! I had a map based on All Quiet On The Western Front. I had trenches mortar holes, some with mustard gas, it was neat. I tried to finish it in the beta editor, but I couldn't because it still has the lock-up bug when you place interiors. Then I found it wasn't backwards compatible with T2 - unpatched. :( Oh well, It looks great, and people seem to like it! GJ!

This map kicks @$$, i think you did a great job on the trenches and turret placement, the bases arent all that great, but overall the map is awsome. The bots work pretty good too, it'd be cooler if the bots would run only in the trenches and pop out when they wanted, but im just dreaming. I hoping you'll put another out like it but better, good job.

Well, I think the map is pretty fun, besides two problems. (1)The Starwolf Objects/Team you have on the map can be a HUGE drawback, figuring that I played a game... and I WAS STARWOLF! Man, all the turrets and people all against me- lol. (2)This is not to important, but, I just thought that the map seemed a bit dark, and kinda easy to get confused with. Thats just my opions (why there is a "none" for grade. :-)

You should make the trenches so you can see over the top and fire at other trenches over the top, and then make a mound in front of the trench, and make little holes in the mounds big enough for you to aim and fire through, then put them within firing range, so there can be trench duels.

I downloaded it, it kicks ***. The turrets rip u to shreds if u get too close. There are 2 things though, there is a tranch that leads all the way across the map that makes it way easier to get to the enemy base unharmed. Also, there is a minor glitch, on my computer(i just bought it last week, so it is very good), when u start, all of the enemy bots run to a place in the trench and jump on top of each other and stop moving. So all 8 bots look like 1. Then when u fire at them, they all start moving again and they kill u. Whats up with that?

For Gaz, you said both WWs were in the desert. NOT! WWI was mostly in Western Europe, which is where & when the 'Trench Warfare' existed.

This is the first map I downloaded from tribes2maps.com, and its awesome! I definately enjoyed the ambience of this map, with the rain and the storm and muddy water. I agree that the trenches should probably be made lower in some areas to allow the player to shoot over the top. This map really dragged down my FPS, not enough to be a major penalty but just enough to be annoying. I would definately enjoy more maps like this.

Bartdude, you dont know jack about history! Both WWI and WWII were fought in the desert. Some of the most famous battles of the two wars were in the desert. Haven't you heard of Gallipoli, Tobruk or El Alamein?
What about General Rommel and his Panzerkampfwagen?
