Years of traditional thinking lead to an inevitable nuclear war between two rogue states...ultimately destroying the world as it was once know.
The apocalypse is now. Everything representing order was burned with the rest of the world.
The few survivers live on rigs in the middle of earth wasting away...turned into virtual quicksand by the weapons used for "defensive" purposes. They live their miserable lives from the rigs, only venturing off when hunger calls. And unfortunately for them, food is scarce.
Two bands of malnourished survivers are scouting for food, though there is only enough for one band at most. So ensues a fight for food, a pathetic survival of the fittest for humans with nothing to lose.

Please note that you can escape from the quicksand AS LONG AS your pack has is still above the sand. If it gets submerged, you're a sitting duck till the round ends.
