Map Details for Half Pipe |
||
I didn't intend to make a map this weekend but here it is...best map I have made i think...it all just fell together...Flags are approx. 750m apart. Teams start out high in their bases, terrain has a central half pipe, there are plenty of other ski routes though with a few emptying into the pipe. Turret placement lends itself to classic play, but base will be fine. /me goes to bed now :) |

Grade: None » Submitted by dr boom on 12/17/03The map was made to be skied on not freaking walked on :). At least Pala has liked some of my interiors enough to put them in his only "released" map, lol. This map is what it is: a x2 style map, nothing fancy, fast skiing, and bases accessible to ho's. The bases are hard to attack and destroy gen/invs from a distance due to their location up high, but i did not want to make it too hard to enter them after what will probably be a major pain for ho's to get up there. The bases are split-level but very open. I was actually worried that the flag would be too easy of a grab, but it is nice to hear there is a degree of difficulty there, the key is to use the half pipe to set up the flag run from an angle, there is a semi ridge bordering the rear of the flag on either side that you can kick off of (for lack of a better term) for an easy and fast grab. You could also get a nice speed run from the mountain the base sits on if you can sneak back there. I am still waiting on Bytor to add the new .vl2 though. I did not try to dictate the rules too much by map design, just provide the elements for a speedy map with multiple tactics. Thanks Q for giving the map a fair test. More reviews like Q's please! Grade: None » Submitted by Pala on 12/17/03Ok after some walking around in map I had to drop my points from B to C.. Thanks guys, it was badlier that it seemed. Grade: None » Submitted by starstriker1 on 12/16/03Just from looking at your comments, I'd have to say you judge maps pretty harshly. Besides, making 20 maps is NO criteria for marking a map on the PICTURES, nor does it make you some kind of mapping authority!!! The actual gameplay is more important, wouldn't you say? Grade: None » Submitted by Pala on 12/16/03after playing T2 for 3 years daily 4 hours,, after doing 20 maps myself Im sure im titled to and experienced enough to say my choises after pics. and never been wrong. Grade: None » Submitted by dr boom on 12/16/03My bad, sorry. There was a texture from rilke in there (xpack2). I did not catch it. I have sent a new vl2 to Bytor to replace this one. You will only need to redownload if you do not have the pack. Grade: B+ » Submitted by Q-Ice on 12/16/03Did anyone else have a problem with the terrain, I get a "null" texture when I play the map. I wish that the base would have more to it than the large exterior room, however having it on the ridge makes it less spamable...I like the idea of the half pipe, just like with snowboarding and skating you can use the edges of the pipe to gain speed and MA the chasers when you have the flag, definately a classic map...The only problems I see is the terrain, there must be a missing texture, the flag is hard to grab quickly, even with classic, since it is flat, this makes for more of a teamwork aspect instead of easy capouts. The base design is good, but limited. For the playability and design I give it a B . |
