Map Details for Scabrous |

This is my first map, so please be kind. ;) In this map, I paid special attention to the water level and fog detail. I wanted to create a "wetlands" kind of atmosphere by putting in shallow pockets of water with overlying fog. I also took note of playability issues. Skiing is difficult due to somewhat flat terrain and the scattered water, so this map will be a challenge for both the flag runner and the teammates supporting him. On the defensive side, the flags are in the open, but they have a wall placed near them that can make certain capping routes difficult. The walls also provide a platform for Spiderclamp turrets. I hope this open flag setup will create a challenge for both the offense and the defense. When I began this map, I had several goals in mind. I wanted to create a visually pleasing server-side map with great playability and a style reminiscent of the original Tribes 2 maps. I hope that I have succeeded. |

Grade: None » Submitted by Ubernator on 02/05/03Oh, I hadn't thought of Quagmire when I was making this. I got my inspiration from the great vehicle-centric maps Archipelago and Reversion. Now that I look at Quagmire again, it kinda has the same sort of atmosphere that I created. On the other hand, the base layout, terrain, flag position, fog, and water depth are quite different. One thing that I am cursing myself for right now is putting in that abandoned tower. Arg, it looks like the one on the loadup screen in Quaggy. Oh well, one tower shoved off to the side isn't too bad right? I honestly didnt try to remake Quagmire with vehicles. I do like that people will be able to identify with this map, but use completely different tactics. Hmmm, over 100 downloads. Sweet. I have tweaked this map a bit... changed one bug and added a couple things in the midfield. I guess re-submissions are out of the question now that Bytor has moved on. Ah well, the revised version is on Houston Vehicles.
