Map Details for Failed Project |

A world of desert, so incredibly barren that mankind was at a loss what to do with it. Then, a Diamond Sword scientist decided to take on the task of trying to terraform the planet, make it fertil, and abundant with life. Sadly, he was not the right person for the job, he couldn't handle the difficult equations that are part of the terraforming cycle. He failed, so miserably, that he gave up on the planet. Now, only one single tree remains in the harsh climate on the ground. On an interesting twist, another Diamond Sword leader decided not to give up on this planet, but to build the bases high in the air where the temperatures are so strangely cooler, that it can support life. Now a battle ensues with another tribe that has decided to take this planet for their own, now that it is understood that life can be supported higher up in the atmosphere. Over 3000 meters up the battle takes place. Whatever you do, don't fall. This map was made to try to bring back the feeling of so very many Tribes 1 maps that were high up in the air. I hope this at least gets credit for being a more modern version of these maps. |

Grade: None » Submitted by _Tex on 04/18/04HA, if I had known this would ever have a chance of becoming MOTW i would've fixed all the little problems, such as the ground vehicles being in there. Only reason they are there is because I have my MPB sounds replaced with "Lowrider"and when it's bouncin around on that stretched wall the vpads sit on... it's hilarious. As for the long drop... try not falling :-) the flag is easy to grab and the bases aren't super far apart... gotta be some challenge there. That's pretty much the flag defenders strategy... knock the capper off. It also seems that the falling off is your problem, becuase this map is usually capped out in the first 15 minutes. :-) Grade: C » Submitted by Riavan on 04/14/04I just dont like the whole being able to grab the flag and fall like 10km, slows the game down alot and you didnt quite manage to remove land vehicles... Grade: None » Submitted by Commando Justin on 10/27/03Is there realy one tree on this level. if so were is it? Grade: A+ » Submitted by NcongruNt on 05/29/03I would like to say I love this map. It is, however, possible to fall off base all the way to the ground (without shields) and not die, provided you use your jets correctly, and land on a steep incline and simply ski down it until it flattens out. I think I've only survived the fall once, and I took a lot of damage doing it. And then it's really boring, until some else comes down to fight you. :) I also found that once you take a havoc to a low enough altitude, there's no way to get back up. This is a great map, one I enjoy every time I play it on the HV server. Grade: A- » Submitted by CaptainDeath on 05/28/03Gotta love this map. Especially when you organize a "peace conference" at the only tree left on the planet. Most of the regulars just hang around the tree while we let everyone else duke it out above us. On another note, i think that TEX forgot to take out the MPB's, Tanks, and Cycles before he packed it...*heh* Grade: A » Submitted by Ensign Munro on 10/19/02A little too high, but everything is in the right place for a great map. Lower the bases about 500m and then it will be fine. Great map! Grade: None » Submitted by Kon on 08/22/02You can survive the fall without a shield pack. It's just a matter of hitting one of the hills instead of the low flat ground. One pretty easy way to make it in heavy or with an inv is: make a bomber, fly it just over the side, get in the armor you want, jump into the bombers tg seat as floats down very slowly, then shoot the bomber so it falls much more quickly. One problem with this, though, is that you can end up way out in the middle of nowhere. Whenever this map comes up I spend the whole time screwing around on the ground. I've never once played it seriously so I can't really give it a rating. Grade: None » Submitted by _Tex on 06/07/02Sadly I have to remove all ground vehicles from this map... the llamas have made it abundantly clear that they would like to push teammates off of the side with tanks, and cycles. Why must we cater to the people that would destroy this game... Grade: None » Submitted by GhettO Smurf on 06/06/02O, i never played T1, i liked the base lay out, and making the MPB fall.... so much fun! Grade: None » Submitted by _Tex on 06/03/02Well yeah Ghetto, as we discussed last night, that's the point. If you fall, you are dead unless you are wearing a shield pack, in which case, you will survive with no way back up. Like I said, for T2 this is a pretty redical idea for a map, although they were VERY common place in Tribes 1. Grade: None » Submitted by GhettO Smurf on 06/02/02Grade: B like i thought, nice map... good job... but i didn't like the following... first off were the Vpads were, they work there but i like the vpad platform alot better... also i think the bases and center tower sould have had Turrets under them... u could easily fly under the center.... and finally it was too high :( if you get shot down u might as well ctrl-k hehe... but for trying to make it really high... great job.. took me like 20 min to find that damn tree... hehe... Grade: A+ » Submitted by GhettO Smurf on 06/02/02looks awsome... gota play it though... i'll be on HV to test it... BUT... i does look like my last map... Unrealesed, but on the Fourms... Hehe... just playin, nice map, with all the bridges, good job ;) Grade: None » Submitted by _Tex on 06/02/02I just thought I would mention, that ALL vehicles are enabled on this map, because... *sigh* I like dropping MPB's over the side. :-) They can't be setup anywhere, due to the fact that the entirity of the map, is Interior Instances. It's also a lot of fun to maked them dance. :-) |

Sounds like great fun, i cant wait to grab a grav cycle and just fly off the map, i have been looking for a map to do this on for ages, defenetly another great map by _tex - keep up the good work! maby you could try and make it so at the bottom a trigger or somthing would kill anything down there, it would fit in the story line
