No, you're not dreaming. This is indeed the same Broadside you remember from Tribes 1. I actually went into Tribes and measured with a target laser and beacons, so it's EXACTLY to scale. Inventories, generators, and the other staticShapes are placed the same too. The terrain is as close as i could get it... even the original music is included, though not many people play with it on, i do =). I spent a little over a month on the interiors, and got very lucky with the terrain fractal generator, when it gave me a perfect Broadside hill with very little manual editing!

I used Sparky's script which disallows Turret Barrel changing, however, unlike Nefilim's Classic maps, the sentry turrets do the same damage...

Not sure how this will play in Tribes 2, since it wasn't designed for close maps, but it should be alot of fun trying to get out alive with the flag. Teamwork will obviously be involved; even though it's the same map, Tribes 2 gameplay is much different and should prove interesting...

Enjoy!!!

Heres a lil tidbit i stumbled across reading the COMPMOD interview pon ign.com. The url is kinda long so copy and paste where necassary: http://mediaviewer.ign.com/ignMediaPage.jsp?channel_id=59&article_id=367369&adtag=network=ign&site=pchubviewer&pagetype=article&page_title=Tribes 2 \/ CompMOD Interview

lol yup just like me i noticed that immediately after uploading the new version with scaled up bases, but i didnt feel it was necessary to re-submit the map just cause of that. What happened was when i scaled the base up i had to move all the crates and stations back to where they're supposed to be, and i just forgot that one =)

O_o astonishing what one will find when they look closer at a map on a pub server... One small little 'glitch' i noticed LF is inside one(?) of the main rooms with the statue and station. Up on the celing (don't mock me on spelling if it's wrong, I'm tired) there is a medium-sized block/box sticking down from above... Nothing bad really, but it sorta sticks out.

Wow, this is a great job. Almost perfect reproduction. Fun to bring back the memories =)

actually, a grav lift/chute would hinder movement through the upper and lower floors... this is due to the fact that it would be too obtrusive on the lower floor and would make it difficult to get down from the upper floor... i think the problem is best left alone (that or use Evil Cheese's pingpong.cs script that allows for movement between two points. Heck, i'm learing how to use it now...)

Texturing is a little...different. The outside looks cool, and the inside could use a little more work. You need a grav chute between the top and bottom floors (where the elevator would be in the T1 version). The Mappers Extreme version would be better then this, if it ever gets out *cough* Nefilim *cough* *cough*

If i ever get around to it i might do scarabrae as well... The base will be much better tho - i admit these are a bit blocky on the interior since it was one of my earlier WC projects. Right now im workin on a CTF mission with all custom interiors, but i dont know what its gonna be called yet =) Thanks for the comments guys

Looks like Bytor forgot to update the description but the bases are scaled to a good size now. Let me know if i made them too big ;) Enjoy!

yes i had noticed that the hallways were a bit small too, and like the guy said below, i think its because the armors are bigger. When i get a chance i'll scale the bases up just a bit and resubmit it... Thanks for the comments!

I love it!!!!! The outside is perfect. The only thing that I thought was different was that some hallways were a little smaller, but that doesn't matter. I have one question though, WHEN ARE WE GOING TO SEE MORE OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL MAPS?

Grade: None » Submitted by SkaMaster on 02/21/02

To get Broadside by Nefilm, go to "www.southeasternslayers.com/downloads.htm". The map is good, but it is different because it is only somewhat like the original. This one is, and so they are two totally different aspects to look at.

Wow this is a great map. This deserves an A with no doubt. It is almost exactly like the T1 map and it deserves an A

*erm* pay no mind to those last two... I never actually PAID you general =P

No I'm not being bribed by Lead Falcon (much). This map is superbly faithful to the original, to the very last details, and I love to play it. It is one of the best maps out there today. Thanks!

I am just posting this to get Mark's map up on the top list. WooT! I like cheese, do you like cheese. I think the world would be a better place if everyone ate cheese.

I have raindance and broadside. Download them at www.snaggs.com . This deserves an A because it is exactly like the T1 version.

If it is out, it's BETA and still being tested. I haven't heard anything though as Nefilim wanted me to help with the BETA testing...

Grade: None » Submitted by Lead Falcon on 02/01/02

dude- what? Nefilim's Classic Broadside isnt even out yet! if it is i'd very much like to see it, and where you got this information. I guess he might've distributed it for playtesting already. If anyone has a it please email me a copy so i can see how much "better" it is than mine...

Grade: None » Submitted by |GateKeeper| on 01/31/02

Why did you make this? There is already |Classic|Broadside, and it is way better than this.

Grade: A+ » Submitted by Iczer3 on 01/28/02

Definately deserves an A . The only complaint I have (probably not your fault at all) is that the hallways seem sort of small. Probably just because the armors in T2 are larger than the ones in T1... Ah well, I loved the subtle hints that indicate that the bases haven't been used for a while, and were probably used as some type of tourist attraction after the events in T1) there are "potted" plants inside the base, as well as a couple other pieces of eyecandy). A very lovely map indeed, this one should make it to MotW with ease!

WOW! Lead... NICE! I this is some good stuff here. I heard you said you were talking about Broadside, this is a kick ACE map. Frankly I didn't think you would realease it or get it finished. Well watch out people, I know how to work WC, and make customs skys. Hmmm now for the scripting part then I'll be just as skilled as Tse Tse and Akira, and all those other super mappers MUAHAHHAHAHHHAA

Grade: None » Submitted by Iczer3 on 01/28/02

Domo arigato! I was wondering about that. As for Nefilim's new pack, I have talked to him a while ago, but I have (as does he) no idea when the new pack will come out...

Grade: None » Submitted by Lead Falcon on 01/28/02

It comes up as just Broadside on the list. In the .mis file the DisplayName is Broadside, but the .mis and .vl2 files had to be called YeOldeBroadside so as not to interfere with Optimizer's (very sad) Broadside on the site already, which comes up as [SF] Broadside on the list... Btw - do you know when Nefilim is coming out with his next remake pack? I started this before i knew he was making another. I was thinking about Remaking Scarabrae myself too (unless Nef gets there first...). This should be an interesting contest to see who is the better modeler!

Grade: None » Submitted by Iczer3 on 01/27/02

One small question here: I downloaded the map and can see the .VL2 file in my Base directory, but where's the mission in the map select area for the LAN game?!? It doesn't show up for some reason, perhaps a problem with the map?

Grade: None » Submitted by Iczer3 on 01/27/02

Holy (insert diety of choice here)... It looks just like Broadside... Is it?... Could it be the best Broadside recreation just from looking at it?... May be... We won't know if it will withstand Nefilim's Broadside remake until it comes out, but this definately will seemingly help to pass the time!
