Map Details for Yosemite SAMs |
||
This is a CTF map created to scale based on U.S. Geologic Survey data from Yosemite National Park with some artistic license taken. Two bases are separated by a line of turrets controlled by a command tower. The valley is mostly flat and wide and good for vehicular action. |

Grade: None » Submitted by Cyborg_Boba_fet on 08/24/02is it just me or is the team your on in the screen 4 closer to the turret wall? Grade: A+ » Submitted by Lagg_Alot on 07/01/02Big Beautyful Map! I love it. But where is the command circut? I got a black screen. And this map does support bots even though it says NO. They have no AI what so ever. Snipers will love it! Grade: A+ » Submitted by Lexor on 01/22/02I gotta give this an A because I gave Maroon Bells an A , faulting it only for gameplay, which this map features. The objective is well thought-out, well designed, and well located. As ChAo$ said, climbing the cliff should be more difficult in vehicles but blame T2's (lack of a) physics model. Great fun. Grade: None » Submitted by -ChAo$- on 01/20/02Fastest way to scale that cliff is in a grav tank or grav cycle. Funny how T2's physics work! Grade: A+ » Submitted by Deathscythe~40 on 01/19/02wow..amazing in just the shear SCALE of everything..it like a real friggin mountain! even in MD2 it takes forever to scale it...and its one hell of a ski down ^_^ i cant wait to see more..i may have to take up that terrain idea if you dont mind. i humbly ask for your permission masta'. *bows* Grade: None » Submitted by 0Zero0 on 01/19/02This is your thing. I don't need to do it. I'm keeping it simple for me. But again cant wait to see more!!! Grade: None » Submitted by Captain Radium on 01/16/02You don't have to buy the data. The DEM's are available for free download Grade: None » Submitted by 0Zero0 on 01/16/02I found everything that you need but you never said you had to buy the elevation models. Unless I'm wrong....oh well. It's your thing I'm not doing it. Cool map anyway!!! Keep it up. Grade: None » Submitted by Captain Radium on 01/14/02Here is a link to the forum on tribes2maps.com. The thread is called "Realistic Landscape" http://www.tribes2maps.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1928 Grade: A+ » Submitted by 0Zero0 on 01/14/02damn your maps are awsome! Great work and everything. But I would like to try it to...but I looked in the forums but could not find your name. please tell me where to go to find you and get you recipe. PLEASE!!!! Grade: None » Submitted by Captain Radium on 01/14/02It took me a long time to figure out HOW to make these terrains. I have a large library of downloaded USGS digital elevation models and can incorporate one into a map pretty quickly. The hard part is deciding which one to use and then getting the edges to look good. I wrote down the recipe in one of the forums. You can search for it and try it yourself. I am hoping more people with more scripting skills than me will use this technique to make some neat maps. Grade: A » Submitted by -ChAo$- on 01/14/02Looks like another great map from Captian Radium, these terrains are awsome. I was also impressed by how well the terrain was blended together, despite its non-fractal origin. I also liked the creativity employed with the cliff-side objective. Overall this map rocks. |

The terrain is nothing short of amazing... and the gameplay is great, too! This map easily deserves an A
