Map Details for Reservoir

A very close-range fight over a reservoir of water. The battle is fast and furious, and vehicles are available despite being a small map. It's wonderfully chaotic! Known issue: low-laying regions outside the reservoir partially behave as if under-water (not a map-bug, but rather a game-bug ith regards to water).

I love the concept and usually enjoy this map. However, the waterblock problem is really, really bad and causes a tremendous imbalance between the two bases. One base allows for better defense above water line, while the other basically has severly hampered defensive positions due to terrain and the waterblock problem. I pray that there is a fix, because otherwise, this map is just great.

With regard to the objective, you'll note that the bases are skewed on a diagonal within the reservoir and there are base turrets at each corner. The near turret for each side (between the vehicle pad and the main base) is owned by the team, whereas the far ones on the sides opposite the vehicle pad are controlled by the Reservoir switch. The generator is up inside the hutch that the switch is in. While the turrets can be nice, the switch changes ownership so frequently (people just tap it on their way through) that holding it is difficult, and you'll almost inevitably end up with the turrets getting destroyed fairly quickly. They can be of great use, but there's so much action that there's rarely time to sit still long enough to take care of them.

I played this map in the pickup game last night and it was nuts. I immediately farmed the flag and those turrets reaked havoc on potential cappers (except for PJ who seemed to avoid their shots, cheater). I'm not sure what the objective gave people, however, since the map was too fast to worry over such things. Of course, the map was prone to fps complaints (which there were a lot of) but don't change a thing.

I love to play this map on your server. The flags are out in the open which makes for a fast paced map. If you get the turrets taken out you can just run around in a circle takeing the flag and capping it. The only problem i found was that you often got caught in invisible water outside the Reservoir. But overall a great map.
