Get ready to sell your soul to Diablo! This map is centered on the underworld where Tribes players begin to understand the meaning of pain. Diablo has been kind enough to allow us to experience this place of pain first hand. He’s given us small bases to fight from and a center objective where your team can join with him and dominate the field. The flags are nicely located on the other side of a large daemon pool from your base in a circle of sacrifice. There you will see what happens to players who try and take the enemy flag. Try and stay clear on the daemon pools for they will take your soul and spit your body into the air in celebration. Also watch out for Diablo’s finger that constantly strikes down from above destroying your base, defense and even you. This map introduces some new effects created by Uranium-235 like life-like fire and flashing lights and a column of energy force. BOT support isn’t all that great but at least they are there for the killing. I hope you enjoy this map. I sure get a kick out of it. |

A very well rounded map, and the ceativity is above and beyond 95\% of the stuff being released! I was kind of honored when I got to play on it a couple days before its release. EEPROM has done it again - he's given us a map that's spectacular to look at, that's clean, and has some tight gameplay. The atmosphere is so perfectly appropriate to the theme that it scored a lot of aesthetics points with me. Of all the themed maps I think this one is probably the best. Blows my Stardust out of the water anyway. =P The only things I'd like to mention that were bad for the gameplay were things that were already said: flying vehicles seem to cheapen the experience. It would've been cool if once they fly up a certain height the vehicle explodes and the death message is like "v5planet now knows the ticket to hell was one way" or something like that to prevent high-flying bomber raids on an already-easy-to-attack base. The turrets on the objective are overkill in my opinion, especially for such a small map. One thing I haven't seen people mention is that the forcefield color on the entrance to the control switch probably shouldn't have been red. The reason is most people associate red with being a color for the forcefields only the other team can penetrate. Although, to be honest, I don't know what other color you could use - but maybe a texture from somewhere else in the game would've given people the heads up on this forcefield. Either way, that's a very minor issue and one needs but to walk through the forcefield hit the switch and try to leave to realize that they can walk through it. FPS was a bit of an issue for me...but I'm only running on a TNT2 (soon to be a geforce 2 ultra, whoopie!) so it's not like top-of-the-line machines will choke on the map. I thought the fact that the daemon pools spit out a corpse once they're done consuming the soul was really clever. Heh heh, it's kinda funny to watch your body launch out of the air after you die. And I agree with TseTse - this IS exactly the reason Tribes 2 should have autodownloading. Then all the naysayers would realize what they're missing. The atmosphere is there, and it would have been even better with custom bases that fit the map better (but that would have been alot of work, just a hint .. hehe). As for the Diablos heart, I think it's a bit too powerful with four turrets. I managed to fall through the map twice by entering daemon pools; Walk over the little bump (at the flag) and down the pool, and you'll get thrown off the the map somehow. But you're dead anyway.. just a minor flaw. Anyway.. it's very nice scripting. Looking at my body getting thrown from one pool to the other is hilarious. :D Keep up the good work. The average T2 player should be able to experience these maps "by accident," simply by being on a server with admin that has a CLUE about what's really going on... Grade: A- » Submitted by ArmyMage on 08/05/01Very cool map, although there are a few little things i disliked (im a stickler), a couple times I spawned inside one of the crucifixes thereby making it impossible for me to move and ctrl-king. another thing is, you go through all this trouble to even have custom kill messages when you lose your sould yet the stations and turrets all have very generic names. The second problem is no big deal its just something that i noticed right away. but all in all Awesome map, keep it up! I think those 4 elf turrets should be removed in the centre, its too much, especially if someone changes over the 4 plasma turrets to mortars. I also think this map would play better with NO vehicles, or limited to just a couple ground vehicles like a wildcat or mpb. With air vehicles it kinda defeats the purpose of the pathways and obstacle water. This map has rubbish bot support. They stand around and do nothing. Nice landscape but bots make up the map.
