Space...where you can see almost forever..and gravity is low...

2 Bases, mining an asteroid field on the event horizon of a black hole...4 smaller 'ships' that contain the only repair packs on the map. And lets not forget..the asteroids themselves. Randomly generated and placed each time the map is started(requires the 2 cs files in the vl2 to be extracted per the readme_spaceballs.txt file included in the vl2, I think, Zear created them, so I'm not sure the server needs them or not, so read it!). This feature DOES impact gameplay, and makes the map fun. The screenshots are of the CC map, taken 3 different times on startup of the map.

Oh..and did I mention..you don't want to fall..it's a long way down..and you'll die at around 4k..bases are set at 7.5k...so..don't fly too low..it's bad for your health.

And I apologize in advance for people with lower end systems. A 3k visible distance combined with 360 asteroids alone will hit you hard in the fps. But damn does it look good!

Very awesome map! Very realistic too! But there are a few errors: There is land at the bottom but when I come near it with a vehicle the screen freezes and a pop-up window says *unhandled exception* and then I goatta restart my comp! Pls, if you can, do something about it, if not I guess I'll just have to live with it.

Great map... though I will probably never play it outside my own server. As a note to Mike, Lack of depth perception is a problem in space IRL too. You might want to start using that little green flashlight you carry before you go leaping into the void.

I liked the idea behind this map, however there are several issues. First is FPS hit and lack of depth perception. I often find that I have no idea how far that rock ahead about be because it is an unknown size and so I often fall going for a rock I thought was a little ways away. It is interesting to fly through that asteroid field too, but I just can't seem to get into this map.

I'm glad people like this map, it's been a product of a LOT of aggravation. Yes, the lighting portion of loadup CAN take a long time, but that's due to the random placement/sizing that happens with the 360 asteroids each time the map loads, so a new lightmap must be created each time(asteroid shadows on the bases are really cool!). Oh, you CAN avoid the death field at 4000m by travelling WAY outside the mission area(easy to do actually if you fall right), but I do suggest you look UP while falling if you avoid it. T2's engine will UE more often then not as you approach the terrain from 3000m for some reason, too much terrain being rendered I think(terrain visdis is at 600m, go figure). Space Balls is the 2nd in my space series, Deep Space being the first. I'm about to redo Deep Space and release it as Space Raiders. So, stay tuned and thanks for the support.

Very nice map. The random asteroids is a really nice feature, thus it takes alot of CPU power (nice features always does..) and the "lighting mission" during loading takes a while. When I flew around them with my Shrike it kind of reminded me of Starwars *cough* Enough about that. :) This is a good map, I recommend you try this out. I bet it's star wars online. ;)

Indeed, Rilke, this map does "think out of the box". It takes a damn long loading time in the "lighting" part, a part which usually takes the least time. This map brought back memories from FreeSpace 2 when you'd be in those missions shooting at asteroids. Just as a side note, I tried going below 4000m, the point at which you die. Well I died. After this, I went into observer and charted a course downward. After about 3 minutes, the land started to appear. My fps dropping to about 2 and just when the ground was about to fill my up screen(weird black fog) I got an UE. Hehe =)

This is an exciting creation, using some of the techniques innovated by some previous mappers, but with greater attention to detail in a lot of cases, and in a wholly new setting. I question how effective offenses will be able to be with the particular flag placement that is used, and yet getting all armours across the map is more than possible. The theme is fun, showing the potential of T2 to "think out of the box" so to speak. And where I usually find out of the box to be out of the question, this map offers some properties that seem as fun as they are unique. Like dueling in space, for example, and sniping from asteroids. Ojbects have been placed carefully, and structures used tastefully, showing the author cared about the work in great detail. Not my kind of map, but job well done.
