Yet another author's first attempt at mapping. This mission is designed fr teamwork and long times in between captures. Getting the flag is a 3 step process, dependant on destroying energy sources in both of the enemy's bases. Each team has 2 bases - an air base, and a ground base. The ground base is comprised of two connected towers and a vehicle station. The station offers all vehicles, but the flyers are most important. On each tower are 2 inventory stations, a solar panel, and what starts as a plasma turret. It is a good idea to make this an AA turret, the reason why will be apparent soon. Finally, there are 2 repair packs - one around the base of each tower. The Air base has quite a few inventory stations, 2 repair packs, and 2 sentry turrets. It is located high enough that you cannot jet up without creative use of nearby terrain (hint, hint). Even then, it's a long jump for a scout/energy pack. This requres the use of havocs to get heavy attackers to the enemy base, and encourages good bomber use to take out heavies w/ missile launchers. The air base has 1 generator located behind a team-only forcefield. This forcefield is powered by the ground base's solar panels, so knocking them out is the first step to a capture. The air generator also powers the flag's team-only forcefields. This creats a 3 step system to capturing the flag, requiring support from at least 2 people. 1) Take out the solar panels on the ground, and successfully keep them down. 2) Get in and destroy the generator in the air base. 3) Get out of the air base with the flag (alive, preferably), and figure out how to get down without killing yourself at the landing. Also, there is a central switch which controls 2 towers, 1 in close proximity to each team's base. Each of these towers has an inv station or two, repait pack, large sensor, and solar panel. These are a good idea to get to ease the flagger's job. Please give me some feedback, so my next maps can be pinnacular. |

Grade: None » Submitted by Star on 07/24/01Your server crashing due to you using the map is most likely coincidental and not related to the map. Grade: B » Submitted by Zio on 07/23/01This map is huge, and was created by a member in my Tribe, Riatha. As I was testing it on my server, it crashed Tribes when I was in a Shrike, shooting a turret, so it is preliminary, and bugs need to be worked out. I love the setup of the lower bases, and secondary towers with extra repair packs in them. In my opinion, the flag is way too difficult to cap. Actually, you will be very lucky to ever cap it during gameplay. I also thought there was no real purpose for the upper bases to be as high as they are. If they were lower, there could be more ground assault jumping up to it, which could make for a faster paced game. I feel a different, smaller floating base should be used here, and I feel the flag should be more easilt accessable. If the bases need to be as high as they are, maybe they could have floating platforms to help players get to the top. Maybe they could even be higher then! I think the center objective is right on! Also the lack of sensors will require a sensor net to be deployed. I actually like this more than having a great sensor net already running at boot. I've noticed this is a very overlooked important step, many players either forget to do, or don't want to do. I am looking forward to an updated "bug free" version! Zio |

No. There are issues with this map. I have test A LOT of maps, and this one has the crashed the server on many accounts. The creator of the map is aware of the issues.
