This idea for a map popped in my head a couple months back. I could never remember playing any maps which featured 'terraced' terrain. The Stripmine idea seemed perfect for that type of terrain. Until I learn Worldcraft (which may take a while) I had to do the best I could with the T2 objects. Hopefully I came up with something that at least gives a mining sort of feel to it. Each team has one main base and one forward tower. The main base houses two generators which power all equipment for that team. Flags are exposed and are on the platform of the crane objects. There are numerous inventory stations for each team. Each team has a vehicle pad which provides tanks, shrikes, bombers, and havocs. ShadowNC -Credits- Zear for his fantastic tutorial. Rilke for checking out an early version of this map and giving me some ideas. FSC for being great friends and ooohing and ahhing over the early screenshots. :) |

Grade: None » Submitted by ShadowNC on 07/25/01Ack...I see where I missed a repair pack at now :( . This map is actually gonna get a little more tweaking in the next couple of days so when that is finished it will be sent in to the admins so they can replace the files. For everyone who has downloaded it I don't think you'll need to worry about downloading it again. I *believe* since you already have the .ter file ( and that will not be changing) you should be ok. Grade: A » Submitted by GIMPbeowulf on 07/21/01This is a good one yes-sir-e, I really like the way the base is laid out, and the flag has some good places to anchor clamps, but it's not hidden either... good ballance on flag placement. There are a few buildings and things that appear to be there just for decoration, and my preferance is to omit such things, but that is just a preferance. Great map, man it has something for everyone. Grade: A- » Submitted by Rilke on 07/21/01Very creative use of terrain plus the Bioderm collection. The theme is unique and executed well (including the quote, which some mappers forget or like simply to use as a more egotistical, less thematic, soapbox). The gameplay seems complex, combining open flag play and a free roam for lights with difficult heavy play, which requires the use of vehicles to be effective. The base spread is right where it needs to be for T2: two gens in two different locations. Skilled rapers will still be able to disable the bases, but teamwork will be required to "own" a base against equally skilled defenses. Tower power is tied in with main base gens. There are few, if any oversights, namely a missing repair pack on the Inferno team (unless I missed it in the event that it was placed elsewhere than it's counterpart on Storm). This map is a unique T2 style map with some T1 accents that will foster an equally unique style of play. Grade: None » Submitted by ShadowNC on 07/21/01Doh!!! Sorry Star! :) Thanks to Star for checking it out for me before I released it :) I forgot to go back and edit the readme...thanks again dude! Grade: A » Submitted by Star on 07/21/01And apparently no thanks to Star who beta tested it =) I know you forgot. I'll just say what I said before to you in the irc chan. I like the landscape because it reminds me of the painted desert, except it isn't red. The bases are about 1000m apart but the map is so ski friendly is seems like 600. I like the vehicle selection and limitations and the minimal defense around the flag. I have no qualms about this map :P |

This map has been included in the Unamed Map Pack which hopefully will be finding it's way onto servers very soon. Unamed discussed some changes to the map with me and those changes are in the version that comes in the map pack. The download here at t2maps is now the same version that is in the map pack. Enjoy :)
