The tribes on this rock once shared the rich resources of the planet. They even built a tunnel between their bases to transport raw materials and finished goods back and forth between their camps.

But that was a long time ago. Things sure changed as the resources started to dry up.

Now they have resorted to scavenging what remains at each base.

And now, you must control that underground passage to survive.

Sure, the tunnel can take you from flag-to-flag quickly, but not necessarily safely. You're free to go above ground, and an Airbase objective provides air superiority to the team that holds it.

The grav lift scripts were borrowed from Tim 'Zear' Hammock's excellent 'Fountains of Paradise' map.

The map has been thoroughly tested and works great with mods like Shifter.

I really enjoyed creating and testing this one. I sure hope you enjoy playing it !!

Map has now been updated with new lift code that will not affect normal Base forcefields. Sorry for the delay !

I finally re-wrote the lift code so that it won't mess with base servers. s0rry !! Update should be available shortly, new .vl2 file is 6xxkb, less than 1meg.

I've made a fixed version of this, although for some reason it doesn't quite work like the original (despite the script and datablock being exactly the same, only packaged and activated from a separate script); the lifts are sticker and harder to get out of, but otherwise it seems to be ok. It's not available anywhere yet, but might pop up on some Ninja servers as part of the Fix Map Pack (bunch of fixed server side maps).

Great map, however I noticed the forcefield code messes up Minotaur and other orange force fields too. I would like to see that sorted out then I can put the map back up on our server.

Not a bad map, actually I like it, but I just didn't like the way it played too well and didn't care for some of the ways the map was arranged, but that shouldn't effect the overall grade too much, so I'll stick with a B , even though I don't care for the layout or how it plays. That's sort of my personal opinion.

No, it's really not. When I was making Broken Pipeline this map had already been released (I found that out about a day before I released the map. =P), and I d/l'ed it finding it has a completely different playstyle. I loved what you did with the blue fog to give it a bright day sorta appearance. The map plays extremely well (especially on Renegade-like mods), and my only complaint is that you have no buffers or anything at the top of grav tubes to keep you from smacking your head on the ceiling. ;) Good work.

Wow. I'm embarrased not to have looked at this map earlier. Absolutely great map, with wonderful top and bottom dynamics (i assume your reference to similarities to my latest map is this one). I love the use of air, ground, and underground. Likewise, the scale and design keep this really fun. One of the better and more original maps I've seen. Not everybody will LOVE this (but they should!), but there's room for all player styles.

I liked this map alot. The tunnels were very well put together and everyone enjoys this map when it is played, the objective is good for a couple turrets but i dont really see the need for a vehicle pad there (maybe im missing some sort of strategy). One of my favorite maps! go download it.

A good map from every angle. The underground tunnel adds a new dimension to any game as heavies will have a field day mortaring their way into the enemy base. And don't forget the roof .. as anyone can drop in from above. Well done .. bloody genius whoever came up with the underground tunnel idea ;)

Warlocklord and TBF were valued alpha/beta testers... the Jericho was taken off the airbases for release hehe...

You did it again Lexor great job. O yea if u run the MPB off the VP on the top of the map you can land it at the bottom without damgining it. One Question why is there a multi use inventory station in the middle of the tunnel? Besides that the map was great!!!!

This is a very good map. The tunnel is unique to this map, and a very good idea. Must be amazing with lots of players as the action will occur underground, at ground, and in the air. The only bad thing I have to say about this map is the use of particle emitters (and this is not the only one). Even my GF2 dislikes those (fps drops too much close to them). And in my opinion they don't do that much for a map. Maybe the fps is ok in singleplayer, but imagine some mortars and grenade explosions next to your particle emitters.... So this map is not to recommend for the weakhearted computers. ;) Your boxes and barrels do much better as eyecandy; that's attention to detail. :) But don't get me wrong.. I strongly recommend this map.

Thanks to DarkFame, the hole has now been patched, I just sent the REV01 to Bytor, keeper of the mapzzz... There are a couple of ways to ensure you have the patched version. There is a file in the .vl2 called "rev01 07-20-2001.txt"... and "REV01 07-20-01" appears in NOTES: while the mission is loading on the client. If you find a server running the unpatched version, please let the admin know about the update... and let them know that you appreciate new maps on their server while you're at it !! This map did take a while to come together, so I really do appreciate the positive feedback. Tunnels are fun, I think I'll be using them again soon !!

I found a hole where I could fall off the map (it's at the Inferno base, you forgot to cover it up I guess). Easy to forget to cover up, but very annoying both for players and author..

In light of the amount of work put into this map, I change my rating.

Gee, what'll they think of next?

Grade: None » Submitted by Author's Note on 07/18/01

The tunnel's inventory is a neutral, self-powered station.

I liked how the grav lifts went down if you destroyed the thing(s) powering them. The switch location of the airbase is interesting but still reachable. It indeed does help greatly in controlling airspace if it can be held. The tunnel would no doubt be a snipers paradise. Our of curiousity, does that inv in the tunnel have a team assigned to it or will it work for anyone? Or is it given when you hold the objective ?
