Map Details for Apollo

Apollo is a CTF map I whipped together after messing around on Dust to Dust for a while. I'm not the kind of player who likes those non-inventory missions, but I love DtD's terrain. So I figured I'd mess with it. :)

Apollo takes place on a desert world, amidst a HUGE canyon/valley. Two similar bases face each other on ridges. Your generator towers are vulnerable in that they are a slight distance from the main tower/base, and they have no inventory stations. Protect your generators, or everything loses power, including the forcefields on the top of your base. When those forcefields drop, the enemy will have a very easy time dropping in on you.

Between the two bases are two capturable objectives, both have one of the two large turrets present on the map. One is situated in the valley, and another on a ridge near a long bridge crossing over the valley. Control of these two buildings is absolutely essential, as they can be very useful in downing that pesky flag runner. Not to mention they give you access to more inventory stations, etc. Hold these two objectives, and your only problem would be grabbing that flag...

I'm glad someone tried to do something with Dust to Dust, but I'm not sure if this was exactly what I was picturing. :) Open flag stands, two capturable objectives, remotely-located repair pack (and you'd better believe the enemy was camping it ;) ) ... it didn't take long for a turtling situation to arise, and then you realize that putting the Desiccator flag tower on this map was either a really good idea (if you're trying to defend it) or a really bad idea (if you're trying to attack it). The individual buildings are pretty tough to defend, and there are lots of them. I felt like our team was spread pretty thin. I like the idea, but I'd like to see some different buildings or I'd like to see them spread further apart... I'll keep it in rotation for a while but this is definitely not a map I would characterize as being near and dear to my heart. :) If Gonk wants me to reverse my review, I accept payola via PayPal, same as Bytor. :P

I thought that the idea for the map was good, but I found that there were too many biuldings too close to each other. It seemed that the map was very cramped. Next time try putting more space between the biuldings.
