Map Details for Below the Surface |

I made this map to try something different, and the gameplay should be very unique. The Bases are not above or below ground, but are "below the surface" That means players are free to jet around underground on the various platforms and fly their vehicles around. Two missile turrets protect the main base which has the generators, one turret is concealed in a tank wreck. A mortar turret protects the flag that is above ground. There is a capturable tower that has a sensor, a plasma and a missile turret above ground, and a missile turret and inventory station below. Platforms connect the two bases but are very far apart, so vehicles will help greatly to get to the enemy base. The only way to get above ground with a vehicle is to go up through the "empty" terrain marked by forcefields. Although a lot of vehicle action will be below the surface.(only air vehicles available) Keep in mind: -To get up to land, just jet up anywhere, you can get through from below. -To get back down, you have to go through the area marked by blue forcefields, or through the capturable tower. -You can shoot mortars and such up at the surface from below, and they explode when they hit it, they don't bounce off. -No inventory stations above ground. screenshot1:a view at the base from the vehicle station, looking up. screenshot2:a view at the base from land, looking down through the empty terrain. screenshot3:the capturable base, (you can see above and below ground). screenshot4:a mortar exploding on contact with the "underside" of the ground...could help with defending the flag... The only reason I'm not giving it an F is because no one has done this yet... well, they have, but not on purpose, why would they want that? By the same logic, I cannot give this map more than a D-. Uniquenes and creativity upon a canvas sometimes take awkward shapes, but in a 3D world, using the area beneath the terrain seems to slap the whole 3D effort in the face. It shows. I'm sure, however, that we'll be seeing better efforts from McCannon. But he gambled, and as far as I'm concerned, he lost with "Below The Surface." |

I think this map works will with a battle field above and below the surface. It also gives flag carriers a place to move there def. to. Great map man.I run it on my UX(XT) server.
