Glossina Rising is my first map. I wanted the map to "feel" open, interesting and dynamic. The map is very large and the spread out bases require teamplay.

Two FF gens in the large tower protect the switch. Two generators in the main base power the fields at the tower. among other things. While there IS a back entrance into the FF tower, I expect a half awake defense to put up a fight, which then requires a coordinated assault simultaneously on both bases (that's the whole point). The small, hanging switch is raised high in the mountains above the main base. Meanwhile, the whole map is littered with tiny, rising, perch towers. I sought to develop a nice overall environment and aesthetic experience.

The map should not be too easy and is NOT designed for anything less than true team effort, and I do realize that not all players are looking for that (the bang bang bang folks). Both sides must work as a team. So, this is server-side map is designed for the folks who truly love siege for the pure team gametype that it is.

I should also add that I expect a second "deluxe" version of this in the coming weeks, integrating teleporters and a fully functional neutral base. So constructive feedback is welcome (although I will NOT move the bases closer together). Teleporters will interconnect a number of these rising towers in the mountains. Ideally, the neutral base will become more robust, and toggle control of the teleporter-net and the sensors. Much thanks go to the Siege Map Developers group, and the folks who played various versions and gave great feedback. ENJOY!

OMFG, a map that requires teamwork to win????!!!! Brilliant!!! I like this map a lot. Though, it won't be popular on pubs bc of its difficulty, its great for clan practices. Base layout, terrain, ahhhh almost perfect. I love the two pronged attack, reminds me of playing strat games when seeing my team divide off into two and assault en masse. The snow also adds eyecandy to the already good gameplay.

lol WHAT SERVER? Well, I love the positive feedback, but I am also about to release a new version of this map. So, suggestions would be great. I have two other maps just about finished, that I think folks will really like.

Thanks man. I do have a new version of the map, with some environmental changes and a few touch ups. Most importantly, the new version integrates the upcoming MapSupport pack (see the FORUMS). In the meantime, be careful using this on server rotation!!!! The script inside which extends the limits on deployables (spiders et al) does not refresh with a new map. THis has been fixed in the Alpha version of the MapSupport Pack.

I didn't have a chance to try this map out online because right now dynamix is having trouble with their authentication servers. I had a good look around and loved what i saw. I dont know what you could possibly change in this map. My favorite part was the way the water looked. I also liked the tiny puddles here and there. This is a great map that will force people (especially defenders) to work as a team. The neutral base was a nice touch. The only flaw i saw was a very minor one. When i looked on the cc i saw a white generator named "Generator Generator" directly south of the attackers base. I waypointed it and realized it's about 35 meters underground...wierd.

I played this map, unfourtunately with only a few people, but it sure is a great place to fight. great visually and has good gameplay too. unfourtunatly all the server admins out there are to stuck on ctf original maps that we (mapmakers) dont get any actual time on popular servers

Well, no comments yet. I'd really love some feedback. Version 2 is on the way, but not until I figure out how to enable teleports while keeping this server side. I already have some environmental changes. Would really like feedback on gameplay. This one is in the tradition of Ultima Thule and IceBound, so I know it's not quick to learn and quicker to play (although there is a critical "shortcut"). So, for those who are just downloading it now, please come back and comment! I can only ask that you actually play it through first...
