Map Details for Arctic Flight |

An air-centric map with bases far apart, this map has proven to be a lot of fun. With low-laying fog, but clear air above, combined with simple air-bases with numerous vehicle pads, the emphasis is clearly on flying. However, the option for ground-vehicles exists, as there are ground-level vehicle pads. There are also capturable objectives. It's a must for any well-rounded server! |

Grade: None » Submitted by Kuujjuaq on 09/14/01While this isn't a review, I'd like to point out how good the central objective is in this map. Objectives are notorious for being ineffective, but drawing too much focus from players. However, in Arctic Flight, the objective is a relatively unassuming capola, thus avoiding some of the shiny object syndrome, but the 2 AA turrets on top can be very useful for causing trouble to enemy aircraft (as well as people hoping to just drop in from above and grab the switch). The addition of an inventory station makes it even more useful to have. The objective really exemplifies what a good simple objective should be: useful, but without being completely necessary for competition and without drawing undue attention from those players with short attention spans. Grade: B » Submitted by Burn14 on 06/19/01This map puts Air Support to shame. Though its not a whole lot different It's much better than Air Support. Could have used a Objective or 2 with some AA turrets, to keep it interesting. -Bottom Line, if you like Air Support your gona love Artic Flight. Grade: A- » Submitted by Rapier6 on 05/25/01Damn, fine map for play. The terrain is tough, the level of difficulty is just as good as some of the old T1 maps. Only down side is the fps thing makes fighting a bit frusterating. Grade: A+ » Submitted by ShaitanX on 05/22/01I love every aspect of this map. Distance, base setup, control point and environment put this as the top air/ground map I've played. Done in the traditional T1 manner, I hope more servers start running this one. Keep up the great work. |
