Grade: A+ » Submitted by iNFiLTRaiToR on 07/01/01I can't beleive how many whining pussies there are if they want a exact copy of a map then they can make their own damn map and have every single perfectionist whine about what they get wrong give the guy a break i think the map owns its perfect just the way it is lets see YOU do better Grade: F » Submitted by Punker-101 on 06/26/01Probably the worst remake of a map I've ever played. Im sorry, this map is just really sad. It probably took you like 5 minuts to make. Terrible, terrible map! Grade: B » Submitted by Taerom on 06/13/01First off, let me say that any resemblance to the original Rollercoaster map is pretty much only skin-deep. It looks very similar, and looks pretty good in its own right. But that's only half the battle... It doesn't play the same. This is a good map, and with some tweaking, it could be fantastic. For instance, give each team a vehicle station like in the original Rollercoaster, and make the valleys steeper with more little dips and rises. It's a good map, but it's not true Rollercoaster. Grade: A+ » Submitted by MorG on 06/01/01Everyone listen! Ok ok, so this isn't the greatest Rollercoaster map in the history of tribes but it is one. I mean jesus give the guy a break. He is the only one to ever attemt to make a RC map on tribes 2 and he did a damn well job at it. Sure there are bugs in it that he could fix but its great on its own. He even went to the trouble of finding the RC music and putting it in there. All you guys out there have pointed out all his mistakes but only a few of his triumphs. If you ask me i say its a great attempt at making an old fav brand new for the olther gamers that enjoy T2. I say an A for effort!!!!!!!! Oh and wicked could you please email me your address i want to ask you a few things. Grade: C+ » Submitted by Ninja on 05/28/01A decent effort. Most of you probably don't realize this (judging from the comments), but Tribes 2 doesn't yet support worldcraft imports. This means that if you want to make a custom base, you have to create it piece-by-piece from a standard wall object or something. It's painstaking. Not to mention the fact that when you do this, the texturing looks awful because you're just using stretched walls. Also, the terrain is incredibly hard to do accurately...one of my maps (Virgo) is a rollercoaster remake and I had to turn the visible distance way down to make the maps even seem like they were the same size. Tribes 2 maps are way bigger (WAY bigger) than T1 maps...when I had the rollercoaster bases about the right distance apart, the default fog/visible distance settings in the editor made it so I could see from one base to the other without any difficulty it took a lot of tweaking to get the distances feeling right. And the terrain is still a little artificial-feeling. The effort for this map is appreciated...having tried to do a rollercoaster remake myself, I can tell you, it's very very difficult. Grade: B » Submitted by (-SA-)SniperWolf on 05/22/01Cybrid Play Tribes 1 and if i ever see you in there im gonna run you over with my Scout and then blast you with my Laser Rifle! All you NEw Tribes2 players DONT Judge Nothing If you havent played Tribes 1!!!!!!! and RainDance is still the best map!!!!!!!1 Grade: A » Submitted by [Corporal Dan] on 05/19/01It is doubtful that Cybrid has ever played T1 in his life. Everyone remembers the mad scout suicide runs in rollercoaster. Other than the nasty building texturing, this map is great. Now, somebody remake scarabrae! Grade: A+ » Submitted by KnightmareX8 on 05/17/01Cybrid, did you even play the first Rollercoaster on T1? Go check it out, again maybe, and you'll see a vehicle station. Other than that, I havent downloaded this one yet, so I cant really comment. I just wanted to show Cybrid that he was not very accurate. Grade: C+ » Submitted by Cybrid on 05/16/01Not too bad a map, but I had a couple of design issues with this one. 1. A vehicle station?! In Rollercoaster? Doesn't seem right to me. Also, the switch at the vehicle platform didn't work. 2. The Inferno base needs to be rotated 180 degrees (z axis, I think), as it's not quite sitting like the classic map. 3. The hills don't seem 'rolling' enough... the terrain doesn't remind me as much of the original, and seems a bit too uniform between bases. A slightly higher elevation for some hills might help, and the valley floors could use more pits. Even with these relatively minor flaws, this is not too bad a map. As a T1 vet, it's interesting to see the classic maps getting a T2 treatment. Just a few design fixes could make this an enjoyable map. Grade: A » Submitted by TLF~Slamdunk on 05/15/01Not EXACTLY like the original rollercoaster, but still a great level to play on. What are you guys talking about when you say there's no walkway? theres a walkway right on the screenshot!! This mapper took some time on this map and you guys get so caught up in the most insignificant details that you don't even realize the fun and gameplay of the map. If this map wasn't named rollercoaster then i guarantee there would be no grade lower than a c. Grade: D » Submitted by Colosus on 05/15/01Appreciate the effort, but I don't believe the name or the idea behind it shows in the final product. Grade: A+ » Submitted by eM.Nickel on 05/15/01god dam guys. you sure are picky cant you just give props where it is due?? Man you guys need to chill and just be thankful that this person took the time TO MAKE ALOT OF PEEPS HAPPY! Grade: C- » Submitted by Tycho on 05/15/01I think its great that youve put the effort into this map, but there are quite a few differences to its predecessor, as mentioned... The base colours, the walkway around the bases, the vechial pads (you could place them next to the base instead), the solar panels, the radar, and the 3 pits inbetween the bases instead of 2.Picky, i know, but thanks for attempting it and it has definate potential. Grade: D » Submitted by {187}SpYdeR} on 05/14/01After playing the map I did not like it all that well. The Base colors are a tad on the sketchy side, and I think that it just plain needs more work. Grade: D » Submitted by =IF=Reaver on 05/14/01Nice try at reviving a T1 favorite, but there are some SERIOUS flaws in the map: 1)This thing is UGLY for one, the texturing is absolutely horrible! 2) The base is on vaguely even close to the original bases 3) Get rid of the vehicle pad in the middle, its just an obstruction and its too easy to take control of if you die 4) which brings up another thing, who in the world thought spawning 100000ft in the air was cool? 5) Like others have said, there were TWO valleys in RC, not 3, and the valleys in this map are incredibly bland, no variance, not very easy to ski down, no fun. Oy! This could have been done a LOT better Grade: D- » Submitted by Raskal on 05/14/01If you're going to copy a map, take the time and do it right please. Thank you Grade: C » Submitted by PageMap on 05/14/01I have a few comments for the map. Change the texture on the bases to a gray one to more closely resemble the one from t1. Also, try to recreate the ski routes from t1. Also, the bases from t1 didnt have windows in the bases. They just had doors. Recreate the solar panels on the roof. I guess the vehicle pad could go, because the t2 veh pad takes up too much room. I would say redo that bases to make them more closely resemble the ones from t1, and add ski routes and you will have a damn good map. Grade: C » Submitted by RockJura| on 05/14/01Well, i agree with others.. this really isn't too much like the orginal RC, although it is a nice start. A few more revisions should put you closer to perfection. Grade: D- » Submitted by EnriqueHavoc on 05/14/01um.. when was the last time you played the original RC? because this map is only vaguely influenced by it :P 1) The terrain is not even close to accurate. You have valleys but no bowls. You have the distances and scales wrong as well as the general height of the hills. Theres 2 valleys between the bases, not 3. And your map has no ski routes to be seen. 2) The bases are built completely different. Yours are too small and theres no walkway surrounding it. Also one of the bases flagstands is on the wrong side. And whats up with spawning 10000 feet in the air- in the middle of the map? Cmon, that is just not thought out well. 3) Why did you add an extra apc structure in the center of the map? I give you a D-. you get points for trying but take out the rollercoaster gimmick and its not much of a map. Also, as for throwing in the original mp3.. um. ok. But one thing to think about, that mp3 alone makes up 4/5 of the maps 2.75 MB download size. Thanks for trying, but if youre going to attempt to remake a beloved T1 map, at least have the respect to try to recreate what made the original good. Or if you dont want to remake it, just try to make it a good map. This is neither. I dont want to be mean, but you got the basic feel of the map wrong and you shouldnt even name it rollercoaster. its disrespectful. I take offense to this map like you just groped my sisters ass. Grade: B- » Submitted by SirKewlAlot on 05/14/01The spawning right in the middle of the map (and in the air) is original. But that still doesn't mean that it's good. What would also be better to change is the ramp off the center vehicle pad. Make it wider for the ground vehicles. I kept gettin' stuck :( Grade: C » Submitted by DipStick on 05/14/01Its a good attempt at bringing some T1 flavah to T2 but I dont think it will endure the picky T1 vets. I think the Vehicle station in the middle is kinda pointless, you may not be able to put one up on the roof of that small main base but atleast put it near it on each side. There were only 2 valleys in between the two bases, not three. The flagstands are really good...very similar, but the pulse sensor is outta place there. If you actually took the time to make the custom flag stand...then I think you may be better off making the main base more like the T1 base too. Overall, it is a good attempt, but I am gonna wait for a better version to come along. Props to you though...It IS the best attempt thus far at creating a T1 classic map. Grade: B » Submitted by WiTTcheN on 05/14/01I think for maps like Rollercoaster and all other mapps from T1, u need a beta test to make sure, that everything i like in the original. Grade: C- » Submitted by apollyon on 05/14/01I respect the work that you put into this map, but if you want to recreate T1 maps, don't gay it up with new shit. Grade: C- » Submitted by Terandle on 05/14/01This is a really bad representation of rollercoaster, i am the biggest rollercoaster fan in the world. i mean it i memorized every corner of that map. and you missed a big flaw... i don't remember 3 valleys for some reason, there are only 2 and add more hills... rollercoaster had way more hills. Grade: A » Submitted by ATF_Riffix on 05/12/01Wicked could not post another one but he wanted me to pass this info along... From Wicked- OK guys, I fixed ALL the bugs. I even raised the terrain under the bases so its not so hard to get up there anymore. No more spawn problems, no more forcefield crap. ENJOY THE MAP NOW!!!! =) Wicked Grade: None » Submitted by Wicked on 05/11/01Okay guys, I saw all your reviews and i FIXED EVERY BUG in the rollercoaster map! No more spawn problems, no more forcefield problems. I even raised the terrain a bit under the base so mediums and heavies can fly up easier. Now enjoy the map!!!!!!!! =) Wicked Grade: C- » Submitted by ultima on 05/10/01Well the turrent placement was right, I never could really ski to well, the hills werent long enough to make a good ski over the next hill and the base detail was rather low, the rock texture on the bases didnt work and high altittude spawn sucked. I would skip this one and wait for a proper Rollercoaster. Grade: A- » Submitted by -AiC-iNsAnE on 05/10/01I thought this was a well designed map, the bases are very similar to the original, and it looks like they were built by hand, which might've taken awhile. The thing i thought was really cool is that the original rollercoaster music is included. I subtracted for the minor bugs, but they don't really affect gameplay. Great job man. Grade: C » Submitted by KoRRuPt on 05/10/01The only thing this map has that is similar to the origional is the hills. I'm dissapointed that he didnt spend a little more time working the small bugs out and eliminating the many obvious bugs. I would give this map a D but its not like i make maps. At least it looks similar enough to tell that its source was from T1. Grade: B+ » Submitted by Star on 05/08/01The map is overall very similar to the t1 favorite, apart from the vehicle pad in the middle and the sensor on the flag bunker. There are some bugs I noticed however. I believe it was on the inferno side; when the inferno gens are destroyed, their force fields disappear. This is obviously supposed to happen, and although you can go in, if you try to jump or jet in by the invs you get stuck and float down as if the forcefield were still there. You can still go in so it isn't really on issue and it is only on that side. Also, you can spawn REALLY high up by the vehicle pad. Since you are invulnerable it doesn't hurt you when you land. However, someone can jet off to the side a little bit and land by the switch to claim the vehicle objective which I think was unintentional. Overall this is the best revival of a t1 map I've seen so far. |
