Grade: C » Submitted by Mathias on 05/04/01This is a beautiful map, but not very playable at all. The bases are completely off balance. The selection of vehicles on this map is limited for some reason. Theres a glitch in the lake where after you jump in you realize the mater is only like 5 feet deep then it converts back to normal land. Try it you'll see what I mean. The giant cool arch dosen't fit with the texture scheme at all, but looks pretty none the less. After standing still and appreciating it you get the feeling of early morning in the desert. After snapping out of my stupor and picking my jaw up off the ground I slowly walked around and admired the terrain. It was inspiring and I could imagine the great battles that would take place here. Then I went too far and got to the other half of the map. The map is a small one and there's nothing wrong with that, but it does easily show the difference between the two opposing bases. The terrain for the other side while good, was lacking the brilliance of the "lake side". I have played maps where the two bases are dissimilar and it can work but the two bases in Gorgon are just too different from each other. Each base has totally different styles of defense as the "lake side" is ground level using objects that compliment the terrain while the other side is high on a bluff and uses very dark metal structures. Map makers seeking inspiration should get this map and spend some time here drinking a cold one by the lake. It's darn pretty. I hope there will be a remake of this map where the other base mirrors the lake side in some way. Hopefully the creator is already hard at work doing it :) |
